Journalist Jorge Ramos announces his departure from Univisión

Jorge Ramos, after 40 years of career, will leave Univisión at the end of 2024.

The renowned Mexican journalist Jorge Ramos announced his departure from Univisión at the end of 2024, following a distinguished 40-year career at the network.

Ramos, who has been a co-host of Noticiero Univisión for 38 of those years and the host of the show Al Punto since 2007, will step down from his roles after the U.S. presidential elections.

The decision for his departure was mutually agreed upon between Ramos and Univisión, according to the presenter himself.

Ramos, considered one of the most influential journalists in the Hispanic field, expressed his gratitude for decades of work in that media outlet.

"This is not a goodbye," he commented. He will continue to lead the news program until December, at which point he will share his future professional plans.

Daniel Coronell, president of Noticias Univisión, recognized Ramos's work. He highlighted his contribution to journalism and the Hispanic community. "Our team is well-prepared to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that Ramos has helped establish," he said.

The Mexican journalist has had a prolific career, covering historical events and interviewing political leaders and prominent figures, including presidents of the United States and heads of state from Latin America.

His legacy at Univisión has been fundamental in consolidating the network's leadership as one of the main sources of news in Spanish in the United States.

That is why many people believe that with his departure, Ramos closes an important chapter in the history of Hispanic journalism, leaving an indelible mark on the community and in Spanish-language media.
