The Cuban journalist Magda Iris Chirolde López, who served as the head of the news department at Canal Caribe of Cuban television, passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 33 due to undisclosed reasons.

One of the first to break the news was his colleague, the journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso.

"Magda has left us, too soon, as one does not expect. The noble soul of our editorial team is leaving us, the diligent and responsible professional. Rest in peace. Days at NTV will not be the same without you," wrote Alonso on Facebook.

A native of Pinar del Río, before taking on responsibilities at Canal Caribe, Chirolde López worked at the Periódico Guerrillero in his home province, as well as at the magazine Juventud Técnica.

"His nobility, sense of justice, and constant effort to be better every day will always accompany us," concluded a brief and succinct condolence note published by Canal Caribe on Facebook.

It has also evoked the figure of Magda Iris Chirolde, another of his colleagues on television, the journalist Abdiel Bermúdez.

"I don't want to remember you with the pain of you leaving. I want to remember that friend who always had a smile, special words for any occasion, the one who loved adventures, animals, children, the one who was always there for everyone," can be read in another of the many farewells that have flooded social media in recent hours.
