Cuban girl with hydrocephalus now has the valve that will save her life.

The father of the little girl thanked the solidarity of the Cubans and hopes that his daughter can overcome this illness.

A light of hope has emerged for little Ester Lianet Asprón Rey, the two-year-old girl battling hydrocephalus in Cuba.

Her father posted an emotional video thanking all the people who have made it possible for the girl to receive the adjustable ventricular valve that will save her life.

He mentioned that his family has received great support from the Cuban community, both inside and outside the island, with donations of money, medicines, and finally the long-awaited valve.

This case, which has gone viral on social media, has touched thousands of Cubans and people abroad, who came together to help the family obtain this vital medical supply, which is impossible to get in the critical Health System of Cuba.

The activist Nelson Álvarez, known as "El Porfiao," has led this solidarity campaign and was the one who shared the video of Ester's father, highlighting the collective effort that has made this achievement possible.

On his social media, Álvarez expressed: “It is our duty and our purpose, not just mine, but also that of ADA Fraternity, but mainly of those anonymous heroes and heroines who are the true protagonists, our followers.”

In addition, she provided an update on the girl's condition. She indicated that Ester's operation did not take place this Wednesday because her potassium levels were not where they should be, and if they manage to stabilize during this Thursday, she will indeed go into surgery.

The valve is now available, but the fight is not over. Now this little warrior must undergo a complex surgery and a long recovery process.

The support campaign for Ester began weeks ago and went viral after the urgent call to the Minister of Public Health, demanding state intervention to obtain the valve.

The case highlights the crisis in the Cuban healthcare system, where essential medical supplies for patients are often lacking.

Ester Lianet underwent six previous surgical interventions due to the lack of the valve, facing a constant risk of infection from having an exposed tube to drain the cerebrospinal fluid.

The girl is now closer to receiving the surgery that will allow her to begin her recovery process. Nelson Álvarez has reiterated the importance of continuing to support this family for a while longer. For those who wish to contribute, the following bank accounts have been made available:

  • CUP: 9205959879504109
  • MLC: 9235959873600758
  • Phone to confirm: 52523871

In addition, the campaign on the GoFundMe platform remains active, where donations can be made to continue supporting the family in this process.

The story of Ester Lianet is a reminder of the power of solidarity in times of need, and how, in the midst of extreme difficulties, collective effort can make the difference between life and death.
