The outburst of El Micha during the recording of the program El Toro Loco Show on Mega TV, which ended with the singer leaving the set, was not due to a confrontation with Carlos Otero, as was initially believed, but with the presenter Rosy Iglesias, to whom the singer clearly told that she could not comment on Cuba because she hasn't been to the island in many years.
El Micha shared an edited excerpt of the discussion on his social media, where he said that he comes and goes to Cuba whenever he wants, as well as a threat that wherever he doesn't understand what is being said to him, he will "heat up the program."
However, a broader unedited excerpt allows us to appreciate that the strongest confrontation was with Rosy Iglesias, to whom El Micha pointed out that she knows nothing about Cuba and that if she hasn't been to the island for years, she doesn't know what is happening there or what life is like there.
"You are wrong, I don't have to live in Cuba to know what happens in Cuba," replied the presenter of Cuban origin, who admitted, however, that she hasn't been to the island in 14 years.
"You know nothing about Cuba [...] what you see is what they show [...] you can't even begin to know what Cuba is today. Here, anyone can tell the story [...] you are lost [...] what do you know? It's just a story," the Cuban artist said at different times; he even disrespected the presenter by telling her "don't pretend to be smart."
"I stick with the text of your lyrics that says, I want to see Cuba in colors," Rosy Iglesias managed to point out in reference to a verse from the song "El sueño," a musical theme that El Micha seems to have distanced himself from.
It was when Rosy Iglesias retorted, "you explain it to me since you know her," that the singer stood up ready to leave while declining the invitation to speak about his album, a failed suggestion made by another of the presenters in an effort to ease the prevailing tension.
"I don't want to talk about albums or anything, I'm leaving," concluded the musician, who before leaving the set amidst a spectral silence from the production team didn’t miss the opportunity to sell himself as "crazy."
El Micha even anticipated the virality of a scene that has obviously spread like wildfire on social media.
"A total lack of respect for my mother and the rest of the drivers," Gaby Quintero, daughter of Rosy Iglesias, stated in the comments section of the images.
"There are programs and little shows, there are professionals like Tony Dandrades and Enrique Santos, and there are others, a bunch of clowns, pretending to be the most patriotic to get a like and profit from the same topic," El Micha wrote on Instagram while sharing the edited excerpt of the moment in question.
In recent hours, opinions have been divided regarding what happened.
Emilio Frías, director of the orchestra El Niño y La Verdad, demanded respect for artists residing in the U.S. who want to sing in Cuba and was firm regarding the controversy.
"Men should not live under pressure of any kind, neither from here nor from there. Those who know what they give, tell you the Truth, get up and leave," Frías wrote on his social media along with a ten-minute video in which he explained his stance. The artist clarified that personally, he will not go to sing in Cuba until the government changes, but he demanded respect for those who do decide to do so.
In recent months, the singer has been in the spotlight of controversy, not only for his frequent trips to Cuba to perform, but also for positions that many have interpreted as a way of turning his back on the Cuban exile community in Miami.
In a recent interview for Tony Dandrades, the reggaeton artist made it clear that he intends to continue living in Miami and traveling to the island to sing for his audience, especially after his latest album, for which he filmed several music videos in Cuba.
The reggaeton artist has explained why his stance on Cuba has changed: “I realized who I am, where I come from, when you look back you have to realize everything you have achieved for yourself.”
