Cuban 59-year-old cancer survivor, proud of her adaptation in the U.S.: "I am not afraid of work"

The Cuban Mirtha Moreno Ávila, 59 years old and a cancer survivor, has moved many on TikTok by sharing a video where she proudly shows her work in the United States. Although her professional life has changed drastically since her previous position in a hospital in Cuba, where she wore a white coat and heels, Mirtha admits to being proud of what she does and has achieved today.

"Who would have told me that one day I would do this job?" she says in the video. Despite the differences between her past and her present, she acknowledges that she does not fear hard work and is proud of having learned to adapt.

"The work is hard, more than what can be seen in the images, but I feel proud of myself. I am not afraid of hard work; I can do a difficult job just as easily as an easy one, as long as it is worthy," she comments with conviction.

Her words are resonating among many users, who have left her messages of admiration and support. “Blessings, it's all about mindset, you can handle this and much more,” wrote one follower. Another person expressed, “It is a source of pride for our Cuban community.” A worker from the same company shared her surprise at how organized Mirtha has her workplace: “Wow, what a well-organized backroom, I also work for 7Up, but in Miami.”

Mirtha responded with humility, explaining that she takes care of keeping everything in order. When asked about her job, she stated that the company offers good benefits and added that if she were younger, she would work there until her retirement.

Her daughter, the well-known TikToker Yanet Atlanta, also shared the video on her profile, expressing her pride for her mother's example of strength and effort. "In my job, there are two women, my mom and me," she wrote, highlighting that her mother, in addition to having overcome cancer, remains a strong and hardworking woman. "Here, we come to work and to improve ourselves," she added in her post, reflecting the values that Mirtha has instilled in her.

For many, this Cuban represents the dignity of effort, regardless of how different the circumstances may be. “Many blessings, you are a good example,” acknowledged a user.
