The United States Secret Service (USSS) revealed the failures that occurred prior to the assassination attempt against Donald Trump on July 13 in Pennsylvania.

The agency released a report detailing the mistakes made by both local and federal police, which resulted in missed opportunities to apprehend the individual who shot at the former president and injured him in the ear.

The five-page document indicates that the lack of communication with the local police hindered the Secret Service's actions prior to the attack.

"It is important that we take responsibility for the failures of July 13 and that we use the lessons learned to ensure that another failed mission like this does not happen again," said the acting director of the USSS, Ronald Rowe Jr., in a statement.

According to the AP agency, the text recalls that Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 years old, managed to reach an unprotected rooftop armed and from there fired at the location where Trump was, less than 137 meters (150 yards) away, before being shot down by a sniper from the USSS.

"The document makes it clear that the USSS knew even before the attack that the location where the rally would take place posed a security problem," specifies AP.

Among the communication failures identified, it is noted that some local police officers on site were unaware that there were two communication centers in the facility, so they were not aware that the USSS was not receiving their radio transmissions.

The police also communicated vital information outside of the USSS radio frequencies. While agents were searching for the shooter before the shooting, details were transmitted "via mobile/cellular devices in a staggered or fragmented manner," instead of through the USSS network itself.

Hours after being shot, Donald Trump stated that if he survived the assassination attempt, it was due to divine intervention.

"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as only God prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will not fear, but we will stand firm in our faith and defiantly against evil," he expressed in a message on his social network Truth Social.
