They are searching for a couple of missing young Cubans in Cancun.

The young woman was last seen on September 16.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) activated the search for a couple of Cubans residing in the United States who disappeared on September 16 in the famous resort of Cancun, in the state of Quintana Roo.

The 28-year-old young woman Kayla Bertrán Marino, who disappeared on September 16, 2024, in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Cancun. The report of her disappearance was filed on September 24, which has triggered the activation of the Alba Protocol.

The woman, a Cuban national and resident in the United States, was accompanied by her partner, Carlyott García Pedrosa, another Cuban aged 33 who has also been reported missing at the time of her disappearance. So far, there has been no information about their whereabouts.

According to the search profile, Kayla is 1.50 meters tall, weighs 45 kilograms, and has long, wavy blonde hair. Her eyes are blue, and she has several distinctive tattoos: a compass on her right shoulder, the word "Angel" on her chest, and a skull on her left hand.

So far, it has not been specified what clothing the young woman was wearing at the time of her disappearance. The authorities and family members of Kayla have requested the collaboration of the public to obtain any information about her whereabouts.

Additionally, efforts are being made to locate the young woman's partner, who, like her, resides in the United States and was with her at the time of her disappearance. The man has dyed blonde, straight, short hair, stands 1.64 meters tall, and weighs approximately 81 kilograms. Among other distinguishing features, he has a scar of about 30 cm on his right arm and a tattoo on his right hand of an elephant's head.

It is unknown whether the couple had traveled to the resort as tourists.

In Mexico, where dozens of criminal gangs operate, several Cubans have disappeared in the last year.

In June, a 15-year-old Cuban teenager identified as Lismailen Galban Gil disappeared in the city of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, where she had been living with her parents for seven months.

It was reported that another Cuban identified as Oscar Luis Marcos Roso, 62 years old, had been missing in the Mexican state of Tabasco since June 4.

In February, a Cuban who was in Mexico also disappeared and had his CBP One appointment scheduled to cross into the United States.

Also that month, another Cuban identified as Igdelnaire Matamoros Bubaire disappeared in the city of Tapachula, where thousands of migrants from different nationalities have been stranded for months.
