Camera captures the assault on a famous Cuban restaurant in Chicago.

The restaurant Mima's Taste of Cuba, located in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago, was the victim of a robbery with vandalism, marking the third time this Cuban food establishment has been assaulted in 2024.

The incident occurred at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday when three individuals broke the glass door of the establishment and took the cash register.

Billy, the owner of Mima's Taste of Cuba, reported that the criminals escaped in a black sedan, taking several thousand dollars and leaving significant material damage, including the need to replace the restaurant's front door.

"I have been in this for many years, and this is the third time we have been robbed in 2024," said Billy, affected by the situation.

The security cameras of the establishment captured the robbers in action, one of them forcing open the cash register while the others kept watch of the surroundings. The robbery was completed in less than a minute.

The Cuban restaurant was not the only target of the bandits.

That same night, the thieves attacked Cafe Beograd, located across the street on West Irving Park Road. They used a similar method. The criminals smashed the door of that business and stole the cash register before fleeing.

A third establishment, Angelo's Wine Bar, located on West Montrose Avenue, was also robbed during that time.

In that case, the thieves also broke the glass door to enter, but only took an unspecified amount of money.

There is a lack of police action against robberies in that area of Chicago.

"There are groups that do this as if it were a job. If they get caught, they are released again," commented the owner of the restaurant Mima's Taste of Cuba.

Despite the fact that authorities are investigating the events, there are still no details on suspects or detainees. This is the third incident that merchants have faced this year.

In May, they suffered another theft in which they lost electronic devices and money, while in February, an attempted robbery of the Cuban restaurant was thwarted by a neighbor.
