The rise of the Cuyaguateje River due to the intense rains from Hurricane Helene has left several areas of Pinar del Río flooded this Thursday.
Yamile Ramos Cordero, the first secretary of the Party in the province, shared photos on her Facebook wall showing how high the river level rose in the municipality of Guane.
On Wednesday, Helene had already caused the first floods in the area, where there were reports of sea intrusion, overflowing rivers, and reservoirs spilling over.
In the municipality of Los Palacios, the water from the "La Juventud" Dam covered the section of the road leading to San Diego de los Baños, near the Villa Amistad area.
As of Tuesday afternoon, out of the 24 reservoirs in the province, 17 were already overflowing, and overall they were at 93% of their filling capacity.
In Puerta de Golpe, a popular council in the municipality of Consolación del Sur, El Palenque was cut off from road access after the rainfall.
