A new video published by Miami-Dade authorities reveals the exact moment of an accident that occurred on April 23 in Hialeah, where a teenager behind the wheel of a pickup truck at high speed collided with a car, resulting in the deaths of three Cuban women.

The recording from a security camera shows how, shortly before eight in the evening, the white vehicle speeds down the street and, in less than 15 seconds, returns in the opposite direction at 83 miles per hour, violently colliding with the driver’s side of the car in which the victims were traveling, three women aged 39, 71, and 66.

The women had stopped at a stop sign and when they resumed driving, they were hit by the truck.

Eddie Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Hialeah police department, confirmed that the driver, Maykoll Santiesteban, 15, was going over 80 miles per hour just two seconds before the impact.

The minor was traveling with three other teenagers his age and had taken his parents' vehicle without permission, as they are neighbors in that neighborhood of Hialeah.

The relatives of the victims expressed their pain and frustration to the Telemundo 51 channel. Smeider Rodríguez, one of them, stated that the young man "Killed them out of irresponsibility."

On the day of the accident, a 36-year-old woman identified as Yarina and her 71-year-old aunt, Gloria, died instantly.

Yarina's mother, 66 years old, had been hospitalized in a rehabilitation clinic since the day of the accident, but she passed away this week due to the severity of her injuries.

Bob García, who lost his daughter Yarina and his sister-in-law Gloria in the accident, said that he also lost his wife of 43 years. “It has been the greatest trial of my life,” he commented, visibly affected.

The young Santiesteban will face trial as an adult, and the prosecution has argued that, given the seriousness of the crimes, he should not be released under any circumstances until a sentence is handed down.
