Yunior Leyva Céspedes, a 27-year-old Cuban resident in the United States, was one of the deceased in a traffic accident that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 595 near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Leyva Céspedes was traveling with two other passengers, who also died in the accident. He and another 24-year-old woman who has not been identified were declared dead at the scene.
The other person, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died around 5:00 a.m.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators told News Miami that a blue BMW AG was traveling east on I-595, just west of that highway, when the driver, a 63-year-old man, did not notice that a Hyundai Accent was traveling at a slower speed. This caused the front of the BMW to collide with the Hyundai.
A friend of the young man, named Ahmed Bringas, posted a short tribute video on Facebook lamenting the death of Yunior Leyva.
In recent months, several Cuban families have been grieving the deaths of loved ones due to traffic accidents in the United States.
In June, a Cuban requested help to repatriate the remains of her husband Yordani Viamontes Tamayo, who passed away on June 18 in a traffic accident in the northern nation.
The same happened with three members of a Cuban family residing in Florida who died in a traffic accident in Boynton Beach. Only the youngest child survived.
While a Cuban died in that country while driving his truck.
