The Cuban police arrested the attacker of a woman residing in Campo Florido, Havana, who was attacked with a machete.

Yidania Santos Peña, 42 years old, lost her left hand and four fingers from her right hand, in addition to suffering head injuries in the attack that occurred on September 20.

The aggressor is her ex-partner and the father of her four children, who was arrested last Tuesday, five days after the incident. He is in jail thanks to the pressure from Yidania's family, as he was hiding in the woods and continued to stalk the farm where she lives.

"He went to the house of a nephew's father-in-law, and he called the Police, and they came to take him away. He is in Alamar," revealed Marileinis Ruz Peña, sister of the victim, to Martí Noticias.

The individual is named Juan Enrique Jiménez Pacheco and was serving a home detention for a previous assault.

"He still hadn't finished serving the sentence for those same things, for assaulting her and mistreating the children. He had about two months left to serve," Marileinis explained.

"He spent his whole life mistreating her and threatening her. The thing is, she never filed a report," he stated.

After the attack on Friday, September 20, the family members wanted to report it at the police unit in Guanabo, near Campo Florido, but there they were mistreated and not allowed to file the complaint.

These days, the police did not provide any protection to the woman admitted to the hospital. It was her relatives who took turns to protect her. Because of that, Jiménez Pacheco kept entering the house.

Finally, on Tuesday the family went to the Alamar police unit and managed to file the complaint.

Only now has Yidania found some relief.

"Since he was taken, she has been able to sleep well; she is still very upset, but she has been able to sleep a bit," her sister emphasized.
