A Cuban mother living in Homestead, Florida, asked for help last Tuesday through social media, requesting support to find a job after her husband suffered a serious accident, who was the main financial supporter of the family.
Ana Castillo (@ana.r.castillo) explained on TikTok that she has four young children, aged 5, 8, 9, and 12 years, as well as a 20-year-old young man, her husband's son, and that the situation has been devastating for the whole family.
Castillo, visibly affected, stated: "The only thing I ask for is work. I know that with work I will move forward."
However, he pointed out that he still does not have the necessary legal documents to work in the United States, which has made it difficult for him to find employment, although he said he is willing to accept any job opportunity to support his family during this difficult time.
He also called on drivers to drive carefully, especially those with children and families, in an effort to prevent tragedies similar to the one that has affected his home: "Men, please drive carefully, very carefully," he emphasized.
The woman concluded her message by thanking those who can offer her help and blessings, mentioning that, despite her difficult situation, she continues to trust that she will be able to overcome this adversity.
In another video, Castillo explained to people that her family came to the United States to get ahead and that neither she nor her husband has ever asked anyone for anything: “I just want them to help me find a job,” she emphasized in the video.
Additionally, she mentioned that she is looking for a rental and, although she has received criticism for asking for help on social media to find work, she stated that she is determined to move forward.
In another post, she explained that she is looking for a new rental home in Hialeah to be closer to the hospital where her husband is hospitalized.
"Of at least two rooms," he pointed out.
Several Cubans residing in the United States have provided support to compatriots who are in more vulnerable situations.
Recently, family members, friends, and other members of the Cuban community in the United States raised funds to help repatriate the body of 25-year-old Gianny Estévez García, who lost his life in a tragic traffic accident in South Dakota on the morning of September 18.
Estévez, who had arrived in the U.S. two years ago and was living in Fort Myers, Florida, died when the truck he was driving collided with another truck 34 miles northwest of Philip, in Haakon County, according to a report from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
In recent days, a Cuban entrepreneur donated several bags of fish, lobsters, and shrimp to his compatriots in difficulty in Miami, as a gesture of solidarity in light of the difficult economic situation many migrants face, highlighting the spirit of community and mutual support within the Cuban diaspora.
The influencer Dairon Cano (@dairon_cano_champions) shared a message of thanks on TikTok to the owner of the fish market, on behalf of the Cuban families who will receive the food assistance.
