The Electric Company of Havana reported this Sunday that, due to the generation deficit in the National Electric System, service is affected in various areas of the capital of Cuba.

Through its page on the social network Facebook, the company stated that, initially, the interruption is scheduled for customers in Blocks #1 and #2, during the time frame between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

In light of this situation, the Electric Union (UNE) calls on the population to implement energy-saving measures, aimed at reducing electricity consumption in the province.

Citizens are urged to cooperate to avoid overloads in the electrical networks and minimize service interruptions, the statement said.

In addition, the gradual restoration of electrical service in Blocks No. 3 and No. 4 has begun, which could provide relief to the affected residents.

Despite the insensitivity acquired by Cubans to endure the massive blackouts, Saturday's day once again crossed the threshold of 1,300 megawatts of "affected," accentuating the muted discomfort that permeates a country subjected to the rule of incapable leaders clinging to power.

As many feared and as is often the case, the power outages exceeded what was predicted by the UNE, which estimated "an impact of 1,221 MW during peak hours."
