Kris Kristofferson was not only a singer and songwriter, winner of several Grammys and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, whose Executive CEO wrote this Monday on the social network X (formerly Twitter): "Kris Kristofferson believed that creativity is a gift from God, and those who ignore that gift are doomed to unhappiness. He preached that a life of the mind gives voice to the soul, and his work gave voice not only to his soul but to ours as well. He leaves a resounding legacy."
The death of Kris Kristofferson has left a lot of sadness among his followers. From Rock History, they mourned his loss: "With a broken heart over the recent passing of the legendary country singer Kris Kristofferson at the age of 88. Here is Kris with The Highwaymen performing 'Highwayman' live at Nassau Coliseum, 1990. Rest in peace, legend."
But Kris Kristofferson was more than a singer and songwriter. He also had a career as an actor in films such as the 'Blade' saga, Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes', and 'A Star is Born', co-starring with Barbra Streisand. On top of that, he was also a boxer, a military American football player, and a helicopter pilot.
In the memory of several generations, Kris Kristofferson will be remembered alongside the famous group The Highwaymen, together with Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash. The album with which they debuted, 'Highwayman,' was a commercial success that allowed them to make their way in an era full of talent in country music.
According to Kris Kristofferson in an interview during a tour in Spain in 2013, he spoke Spanish before English, since he was born in Texas, and he started writing his first songs at the age of 11. He also acknowledged that he owes his musical career to Johnny Cash, who performed the songs he wrote and "carried them in his suitcase."
Grandson of Swedish and Dutch immigrants to the United States, Kris Kristofferson studied at the famous University of Oxford, where he began to write songs and graduated with a degree in English Literature. He was married three times and had eight children. The world of culture mourns his death.
