A motorcycle from the Traffic Directorate of the Revolutionary National Police (PNR) was involved in an accident this Sunday after colliding with a car on the Almendares River Bridge in Havana.

A video shared by the Facebook page 'Accidentes Automovilísticos en Cuba' showed both vehicles at the accident scene, the causes of which are unknown, along with the condition of the occupants.

With dents on the driver's side, the gray car remained in the middle of the avenue, while the motorcycle was lying in a side street. At the time of writing this note, neither the authorities nor the official press have reported on the incident.

According to the comments of an internet user, an alleged witness to the events, the accident occurred when the "driver of the vehicle crossed the yellow line and did not notice that the officer was coming and had to collide with him, being responsible for the accident."

The positioning of both vehicles in the video, as well as the damages caused by the accident, may align with this version, according to which the driver of the car attempted a prohibited left turn without noticing the motorcycle that was overtaking him in the corresponding lane.

Another internet user, identified on Facebook as Janier Chao Delgado, also claimed to have passed by the scene and heard witnesses saying that the driver of the PNR had died in the accident.

"I passed by there and, according to the comments from the people who were there, the little horse [motorized police officer] passed away," he noted.

The motorcycle police officers in Cuba have recently suffered losses among their ranks due to unfortunate accidents.

In mid-August, a motorized agent died in a traffic accident in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo, in Holguín.

A post in the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones' indicated that the accident involved the deceased officer and a truck, and that it occurred at the site known as the “Curva del Carpintero,” on the Levisa - Sagua highway.

A couple of shared photos showed the wrecked motorcycle and a red truck. Another post in the Facebook group 'Noticias de Sagua de Tánamo' identified the fatal victim as Orlando Moreno Almaguer, who was known as “La Picúa.”

At the end of July, two more motorized agents died in an accident that occurred in the province of Camagüey. The incident happened at the curve before reaching Siboney, coming from Las Tunas, according to reports on social media.

One of the deceased was a resident of the town of Jiqui, in the Camagüey municipality of Sibanicú, and was identified as Yuniesky. No details were obtained about the other police officer.
