Cuban journalist Javier Díaz announced on his social media this Monday that, starting on October 6, he will take over from Mario Vallejo as the news presenter at Univisión 23 Miami, after several years in which Vallejo hosted the weekend editions.
Díaz explained on Facebook that Vallejo "will now host the prime-time edition at 11:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday," while he will begin presenting the news on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., in addition to working as a journalist from Monday to Thursday at the television network.
"This represents a great opportunity as a professional and a challenge at the same time," the journalist expressed in his message, highlighting the commitment involved in informing the community and the viewers who have followed Vallejo during this time.
He also expressed his gratitude to Televisa Univisión for believing in him, as well as to his coworkers, social media followers, and especially to his family, who have been by his side "through thick and thin."
He also reflected on his Cuban roots and encouraged others to fight for their goals: “Here you have another Cuban, who left the island like all of you, with a backpack full of dreams. Work hard and fight for your goals, because living in freedom, anything is possible.”
In August, Díaz expressed his deep emotion at voting for the first time in a democratic election, a right he had never been able to exercise while living in Cuba.
In a Facebook post, Díaz expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the local elections in Miami, highlighting the significance of this democratic act.
In addition, through his social media, Díaz has supported his fellow countrymen who are making their way in Florida, and he has also condemned the crimes of the regime in Cuba.
