At least 25 Cuban raftsmen land in Playa Mujeres, Mexico.

The rustic vessel managed to land in the center of Playa Mujeres, and some migrants were able to evade the authorities.

A new boat with Cuban emigrants managed to land on the morning of this Tuesday in the center of Playa Mujeres, Cancun, Mexico.

According to the newspaper Cambio 22, the vessel arrived on Mexican soil, at the height of the area known as El Riíto, in Playa Norte, approximately in the early morning with at least 25 people who tried to sneak away taking advantage of the hour.

Images shared on social media by local media show the rustic vessel, in which it can be seen that the Cubans were packed in.

Inside the boat were various belongings of the occupants, who didn't waste any time and tried to escape as soon as they reached solid ground, although it seems not everyone succeeded.

The local press also highlights that to reach solid ground, the rafts were navigated through a rocky area adjacent to a nearby hotel called MIA Reef and sailed to the shore of the beach, leaving their vessel stranded on the beach of the Villa Kin hotel.

Although not confirmed at the time of writing this information, at least a dozen migrants were detained by Mexican authorities.

This is another attempt by Cubans to reach the United States or Mexico by sea, despite the risk they face of being returned to their country, in addition to the dangers posed by the journey at sea.

In August of last year, a group of 31 Cuban rafters, including a minor, was intercepted in the waters of Quintana Roo while attempting to reach Mexico in a makeshift vessel.

The migrants: nine women, 21 men, and one minor were on board a small vessel with an inboard motor that was left adrift about 222 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres. Fortunately, all were in good health.

The operation was carried out by personnel from the Ninth Naval Region after receiving a notice from a foreign tanker that spotted the migrants adrift about 222 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres.

Also that month, Mexican authorities reported the discovery of an abandoned vessel of Cuban rafters on the coast. Apparently, it belonged to migrants who managed to evade authorities.
