A Cuban confessed that before arriving in the United States, he thought he would eat like they do in American movies. Lots of McDonald's, meat, and donuts, like you see the police in many films. However, far from immersing himself and preferring this type of food, he has not left behind his Cuban customs and continues to eat his typical dishes. This is something he shared in a video on TikTok that has gone viral, as many Cubans have identified with what @jose.martnez238 says.
"I really wanted to come to this country. When I was in Cuba, I watched movies where people were always eating at McDonald's, people pouring coffee from thermoses, police with donuts, and I thought that when I arrive in Yuma, it's going to be McDonald's all day, steak and filet all day," he comments.
However, the reality has been different for him, and he still prefers his Cuban dishes. "My brother, nowadays I still eat my fried tortilla, my rice with bean stew, plantain, avocado, nobody can take that away from us. I have already gone through that stage. Rice with fried egg, tortilla, chopped meat, tomato with a little onion salad."
Many Cubans have identified with what is shared, and in the comments they said: "That's right, no one can take away our customs," "That's true, brother, Cuba is in our DNA," "Exactly. I've only eaten two hamburgers in the years I've been outside Cuba. I still enjoy my picadillo with rice and fried plantain, salad... How wonderful it is to be Cuban," or "Exactly, nothing like our roots. I'm dying for bread with tomato," are some of the reactions to this video.
