They are urgently requesting help to save a blind and sick dog living on the streets of Havana.

The dog, only two years old, faces great danger on the streets due to his blindness and delicate health condition.

The activist and animal rights defender, Yenney Caballero, shared a desperate plea on her social media this Tuesday, asking for help to save a blind and sick dog on the verge of being euthanized in Havana.

Caballero reported on Facebook that, although the stray animal was taken to the Carlos Tercero clinic to be euthanized, the veterinarians refused to do so because of its youth, as the dog is only two years old.

"He is blind, he cannot see the world, and he also suffers from gastritis that causes him to have bloody stools," explained the activist, who expressed her plea with tears in her eyes.

He pleaded with anyone with a good heart to give the animal a second chance, assuring that he would cover the costs of veterinary treatment.

"It will have a sad ending if it is not taken off the streets," he emphasized.

In a few hours, the post was shared more than 1,300 times; however, at the time of writing this note, the dog's condition was uncertain.

A few days ago, the activist herself requested urgent help for a dog in Mayabeque whose owners emigrated and left the animal in the care of a person who no longer wishes to take responsibility.

On the social network Facebook, Caballero posted in the group "I Love and Protect Animals" that it is a two-year-old pitbull, which has skin problems but has already been treated with medication, and its overall health is good.

Recently, animal protectors in the province of Sancti Spíritus rescued a Dalmatian dog that had been abandoned on the street and was suffering from a transmissible venereal tumor (TVT).

The ARCA Sancti Spíritus Foundation shared a video on Facebook of the rescue of the dog, who, due to the condition of her mammary glands, apparently had been used repeatedly for breeding before being abandoned.

Amid the economic crisis that Cuba is experiencing, the theft of pets has increased, which are then sold illegally, or in the worst-case scenario, used as food.

Last July, a family that reported the theft of their two chihuahua puppies recovered them after a person, having purchased them, decided to return them to their owners.
