Cuban Major League pitcher Yariel Rodríguez, currently with the Toronto Blue Jays, moved his fans this Tuesday by dedicating an emotional message to his mother on her birthday.

"Happy birthday, mom. I love you more than my life. Another birthday that we spend apart, but I know that one day we will be together forever," Rodríguez wrote on the social media platform Facebook.

In his words, he highlighted the deep love and gratitude he feels towards her, who has always guided him on the right path.

"Thank you for being the mother you are, for loving me, and for always guiding me on the path of goodness. I love you, I will always love you," said the pitcher, who in the past had experience at the highest level of Japanese baseball.

The 27-year-old from Camagüey just concluded his first season in Major League Baseball a few hours ago, as his team did not make it to the postseason.

Although he did not achieve the desired numbers, Rodríguez showed glimpses of his quality in some areas, such as the opponents' batting average (.229) and the strikeout rate, with 85 in 86.2 innings pitched.

However, Cuba's ace in the last World Baseball Classic only won one game, lost eight, and finished with a 4.47 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP, according to ESPN statistics.
