A Cuban who decided to leave Florida to move to Missouri is making headlines on TikTok after sharing her work experience in response to a question from a user on the platform.
Daiana Díaz (@daianadiaz2107) shared in a video how Missouri opened many more doors for her than Florida, and now people are debating which one is better.
According to Daiana, she found a job in Missouri from the very first day and didn’t have to experience the stress of searching for housing, as a friend helped her with everything. "There are many more job options here. When I arrived, I didn’t even have to look. They sorted everything out for me quickly," she said. Despite starting with a morning shift that wasn’t ideal for her, another opportunity quickly arose in a staffing office, where she was offered several jobs with salaries between 14 to 15 dollars per hour.
Comparing it to her life in Florida, she said that things were much harder there: "In Florida, you break your back looking for work, and when you find a job, it's for 11 or 12 dollars, and on top of that, they don’t give you the full 8 hours." She also mentioned that in Missouri, her husband, who works for Uber, has managed to earn 230 dollars in a single day, something he had never achieved in Florida.
The differences are not only seen in the jobs but also in the cost of living. Daiana stated that rents in Missouri are much cheaper than in Florida, where "everything is super expensive." Her video has gone viral on TikTok with over 1100 likes and many comments from people who, like her, have also lived in both states.
Some agreed with what he said: “I live in Tampa and there's no work here,” while others defended Florida, saying that there is work, but you have to know how to look: “In Florida, you can earn well, you just have to search. Rent is expensive all over the United States, but if you live with more people, it’s cheaper.”
The debate is on, and with the cost of living increasingly high in Florida, many Cubans are considering moving to other states like Missouri, where, according to Daiana, there are more opportunities and better wages.
