The health status of Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger, whose real name is José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, has raised concerns and expressions of support from personalities in the entertainment industry and his fans, both in Cuba and abroad. Since the singer was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the head in Miami on October 3, updates on his health have been closely monitored.
On October 7, the Miami Police offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Damián Valdez-Galloso, also known as "El Narra," the main suspect in the shooting that left El Taiger in critical condition. The police stated that they have evidence indicating it was not a suicide attempt, and efforts to capture the responsible party have intensified. Valdez-Galloso has a criminal record and is regarded as a key person of interest in the investigation.
In addition, personalities from the cultural and music scene, such as comedian Alexis Valdés, have shown their support. Valdés touched his followers by dedicating a special song to El Taiger, expressing his wish for the reggaeton artist to recover soon and continue bringing “beautiful craziness” to his audience. Valdés concluded his heartfelt performance with a message full of hope, reminding everyone of the importance of the “good crazy” people who make life better.
On social media, concern for his condition has been constant. Yomil Hidalgo, a friend and colleague of El Taiger, urged everyone to keep him in their prayers for recovery, emphasizing the importance of remaining vigilant and continuing to ask for his health. Meanwhile, international figures like J Quiles and Zion joined the outpouring of support, calling on social media for "God to place His hand" over the reggaeton artist.
The impact of El Taiger's health has affected various sectors. Miss Universo Cuba 2024, Marianela Ancheta, also expressed her concern by posting an emotional message on Instagram, where she mentioned that "all of Cuba is waiting for you to rise up."
In addition to these public reactions, on October 8 it was reported that El Taiger's health status remains critical. His manager updated that, while the singer does not exhibit brain death and his kidney has started to function, inflammation in his brain continues to be an obstacle for a definitive diagnosis. This news has brought a glimmer of hope, although the prognosis remains cautious and his recovery will depend on the coming days.
Despite the uncertainties, support for El Taiger continues to grow. In Barcelona, a group of Cubans organized a candlelight vigil near the Cathedral of Barcelona, as an act of faith and hope for his swift recovery. The artistic community and fans of the reggaeton artist remain vigilant, hoping that the coming days will bring more encouraging news about his progress.
The situation has also affected other artists. Urban music singer Wampi recently returned to the United States and, in an interview, expressed his sadness about what happened to El Taiger, acknowledging the respect he has for his career. Wampi emphasized that, although they do not have a close relationship, he considers El Taiger "someone to look up to" because of his musical talent.
The prognosis for El Taiger remains guarded, but expressions of solidarity and prayers continue, both on social media and during vigils around the world. The artistic community and his supporters hope that the coming days will bring the long-awaited improvement for the artist.
