Residents in mobile homes in Miami must evacuate voluntarily due to the threat of Hurricane Milton.

Miami-Dade authorities warn about the importance of evacuating mobile homes due to the threat of Hurricane Milton, with winds of 250 km/h.

Miami-Dade Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, made an urgent call on Monday for residents of mobile homes in her county to evacuate voluntarily due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Milton.

Its winds are devastating, reaching up to 250 km/h. The cyclone is expected to make landfall in Florida as a category 3, less powerful, but it is still classified as extremely dangerous by the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Mobile homes, due to their structure, are particularly vulnerable to the force of the winds from a hurricane of this magnitude.

Levine Cava urged in her press conference this Monday that the mentioned houses be evacuated immediately, as they may not be designed to withstand such intense winds.

"We are asking residents of mobile homes to evacuate voluntarily," emphasized the mayor, making the same call to individuals with special medical needs.

Levine Cava also declared a local State of Emergency in Miami-Dade, warning about the possible occurrence of flooding, torrential rains, and strong winds that could affect not only mobile homes but also other vulnerable buildings in the county.

Threat to mobile homes in Florida

The NHC reported that Milton could impact the west coast of Florida this Wednesday in the Tampa area. Mobile homes, which are especially prone to damage during these weather events, could be severely affected.

Local authorities warn that the hurricane could lift roofs and completely displace these structures, in addition to causing flooding that would exacerbate the situation.

The mayor urged the population to closely monitor the weather reports and to follow the recommendations of the authorities.

The trajectory of Hurricane Milton does not threaten Miami-Dade at its peak strength, as is the case with other areas of Florida. Nonetheless, the county is preparing to face this severe weather event.

In Florida, conditions will begin to deteriorate as the hurricane approaches this Tuesday. Authorities have emphasized the importance of residents in vulnerable areas, especially in mobile homes, taking immediate precautions and considering evacuation.
