Reporter Jonathan Lee Riches did not back down and faced on Wednesday the intense winds of Hurricane Milton from the American city of St. Petersburg, Florida, one of the areas affected by the powerful atmospheric phenomenon.

Through the social network X, Riches reported: "I am in downtown St. Pete, the winds are out of control here as Hurricane Milton approaches," amid extreme conditions that highlight the strength of the storm.

Just a few minutes ago, the eye of Hurricane Milton made landfall on the coast of Florida as a powerful Category 3 hurricane.

The proximity of the cyclone forced thousands of residents to take refuge in their homes and outside their cities, while authorities have issued evacuation alerts for the most vulnerable areas, such as Tampa Bay.

The hurricane has caused storm surges in nearby coastal areas, leading to flooding in some sectors, and it is expected that the cyclone will continue its advance inland with torrential rains and even more devastating winds.

The authorities tirelessly repeat to the population to stay safe and wait for new instructions, while they assess the potential damage that this dangerous storm may cause.
