Dozens of Cubans are demanding justice after the violent death of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal, El Taiger, who was a victim of a crime that was apparently premeditated.

Since the musician was found with a shot to the forehead in the back of a Mercedes Benz truck near Jackson Memorial Hospital, the police are searching for the Cuban Damián Valdez-Galloso, alias "El Narra," considered a "person of interest" in the case.

According to several artists close to El Taiger, "El Narra" supplied drugs to the reggaeton artist, who considered him a friend and enthusiastically introduced him at parties.

Last Friday, it was revealed that Valdez-Galloso was the last person to be with El Taiger and who rented the hotel room where the artist slept the night before the attack.

A strong police operation was deployed at his house in Hialeah, but El Narra was not at the residence and his phone is off.

This 49-year-old man has been registered as a sex offender in Florida since 2007, according to the website Homefacts.

Valdez-Galloso has a criminal record that includes an accusation of sexual assault against a minor of 17 years old since 2007 and an arrest for robbery in 2021.

In addition, he has been arrested on at least two occasions by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Currently, the Miami police are offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to their whereabouts, as they believe they have relevant information that would help solve the case.

The agents reported that the case of El Taiger "was not a suicide attempt, it was a criminal act."

Lawyer Mayron Gallardo explained to journalist Mario J. Pentón that the person behind the crime will face a homicide case with first-degree felony charges, which can be punishable by death.

"The person responsible for a crime like this has no right to bail, and will be in detention the entire time following the arrest, and may face the death penalty," he detailed.

He argued that due to the location of the shooting against El Taiger, it was a premeditated crime. He also recalled that gallon jugs of gasoline were found in the car, which caught the attention of the police.

"It is something that, according to the laws of criminal cases, when a homicide case is handled, this is interpreted as a super violent crime that is even punishable by the death penalty," he clarified.

Gallardo stated that the arrest warrant against El Narra was sent to the 49 states after being issued.

"If the suspect is not found, the investigation continues to determine if there are other parties responsible," he stated.

At a press conference last week, the Miami Police stated that they need to question Valdez-Galloso in relation to the attempted murder that occurred near NW 9th Avenue and 17th Street on October 3rd.

According to the police record, El Narra is 5'09 inches tall, weighs approximately 186 pounds, has brown eyes and hair, and has tattoos on both arms and on the chest.

The police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 305 471-TIPS (8477) or visit the website crimestoppersmiami305.com.

This Thursday, after a week fighting for his life, El Taiger was declared dead by the doctors at Jackson Memorial. Hundreds of Cubans have gathered in front of the medical center to pay tribute to the most important representative of Cuban reggaeton of his generation.
