Accident in Santiago de Cuba: Two injured in motorcycle collision with garbage truck

The injured, who were traveling on the motorcycle, were assisted by witnesses of the incident and taken to a hospital. It is unknown what condition they are in.

The collision of a motorcycle with a garbage collection truck that occurred this Tuesday in the city of Santiago de Cuba left two people injured, who were taken to a hospital.

A preliminary report from communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on Facebook stated that the accident occurred around noon on the busy Las Américas avenue, near the Santiago hotel, "when a motorcycle with a passenger behind collided with a truck collecting garbage in the area."

The note mentions that "a person was promptly aided and taken to a hospital in the city." However, in the shared video, several men can be seen carrying one of the injured and quickly moving him to a car, and then another group carries another person and puts them in a taxi.

Witnesses commented that the motorcycle driver apparently was not paying attention and did not notice the truck stopped in the street.

A user said that her uncle was riding a motorcycle and had a Pekingese dog with him, and she asked for help to recover the pet.

As of the time of writing this note, the condition of the injured individuals in the incident is unknown.

In recent days, several accidents have been reported in the city of Santiago de Cuba. A man died after being struck by a car while attempting to board a passenger truck in the town of El Socorro, which is part of the municipality of Songo La Maya.

On the highway at the entrance to Santiago de Cuba, a truck collided with a horse-drawn cart, causing the immediate death of the person driving it.

A cyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a Moskvitch at the corner of Trocha Avenue and 8th Street last Thursday. The man was urgently transported to the hospital, where he was reported in critical condition, with danger to his life.
