A Cuban woman expressed on TikTok how affected she has felt by the death of the singer El Taiger, one of the most influential figures in the Cuban urban genre. In her message, Diana Sin Dr. (@diana_sindra) reflected on the impact the event had on her and on others.
"I am feeling overwhelmed and touched by what happened with El Taiger," she began saying in the video. "I have asked myself why this is affecting me so much. And of course, it’s because this is what everyone is talking about on social media, this is the topic. Remember that everything we consume on social media affects us and reaches us," she added.
For her, El Taiger represents more than just a simple artist: "For me, he represents youth, a history, and part of our life." "I like to think about why I feel this way or what this situation is teaching me," she commented before reflecting on the lessons she draws from everything that has happened in the last few weeks.
The young woman started by pointing out the lack of empathy, especially when it comes to public figures or artists. "Let's stop justifying what is wrong, let's stop thinking that because they are figures or artists we have the right to apply pressure and talk about what we don't know. People need to stop. We have no idea what that person is going through," she reflected.
In his message, he also emphasized the importance of being authentic and seizing moments of introspection: "Be yourself. Characters fall. Eventually. We go through stages, good and bad, but we need time for introspection."
Then, he quoted an interview with El Taiger in which he said, "Serving you as a tool has always been my commitment," and emphasized that life lessons often come accompanied by mistakes and losing people.
"Much of wisdom comes after making mistakes, losing people we love, or doing things wrong. So don't punish yourself," he advised.
The Cuban singer José Manuel Carbajal passed away on October 10 at the age of 37 in Miami, a week after being shot in the head. The death of El Taiger has been a hard blow for Cuban music, and thousands of people mourn his passing.
