They are asking for help in Havana to recover a dog given to a child: "He is his lifelong companion."

The dog was put up for sale in a Facebook group after being stolen or lost, and now the person who is looking for it is trying to contact the one who bought it to get it back.

A Cuban in Havana asked for help this Tuesday to find her son's dog, a Pekingese with whom he has grown up since birth.

Yazmín Remedios Peraza, through a post in the Facebook group "Find your lost pet -Cuba-", pleaded with anyone who has purchased the puppy to contact her.

"This little dog has an owner, he is a child, it was his birth gift, they are the same age and have always been together," she wrote, adding that the buyers will not lose their money and sharing a contact number for more information.

Remedios did not specify whether the dog was stolen or lost, but she did share a photo of the dog and another of a screenshot from a Facebook group where a pet very similar to her son's is being sold. She also did not provide information on whether she contacted the person who posted the sale ad.

It is common for people to request help on social media to find their pets, and even offer a reward to those who return them.

In July, a Cuban family that had reported the theft of their two chihuahua puppies recovered their pets after someone bought them and decided to return them to their owners.

"We found them," said Mayrelis Garcés González in the Facebook group "SOS callejeros Cuba," while sharing images and videos that showed the girl's joy at recovering her pets.

Some time ago, Rocco and Dorita, a couple of Bulldog puppies that had been stolen from the entrance of a house in the Playa municipality of Havana, were recovered by their owners, who had even offered a reward of a thousand dollars for the pair of pets.

A social media post by Bienestar Animal Cuba (BAC) detailed that the guardians of the dogs received calls from strangers who claimed to have Rocco and Dorita.
