The Cuban TikToker Evelyn Ferrer, known on the platform as @evelynferrer95, has sparked a debate on social media after posting a video in which she detailed how much she pays in rent in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to what she explained in the clip, she and her husband spend $1,080 a month for a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. However, she clarifies that services like water, gas, electricity, and garbage are separate, which brings the total monthly cost to approximately $1,400.
In the video, Evelyn shows every corner of her new home, from the fully equipped kitchen to the bedrooms, noting that the place is empty because they just moved from Macon, Georgia, and have to start from scratch.
His testimony has generated comments and reactions, as many of his followers and other TikTok users quickly shared their experiences with rental prices in the same city.
"I pay $1,350 already including the bills on 17th Ave and Missouri," comments one user, while others compare with their own situations, noting that in some areas, rent can be higher. "Rent in safer places is between $1,800 and $2,000," mentions another person, questioning whether it's really possible to find such cheap places in Phoenix.
Despite the doubts, Evelyn insists that her apartment is located on Dunlap Ave, in a complex called Luna Villa Apartments, and that the prices she mentions are real, always keeping in mind that services are not included in the base cost. Even some interested followers have asked for the exact address and the name of the complex to move in and take advantage of these prices that, for many, seem too good to be true.
In the midst of the debate, other users expressed skepticism, claiming they have never seen rents as low in Phoenix, and some mentioned that the more affordable areas usually have security or quality issues. “The bad thing is the area, Villa Luna and most of the apartments on Dunlap have a bad reputation, besides many homeless people,” commented one user. Evelyn, however, defended her choice, arguing that she is doing “super well” and that, compared to other places, Phoenix has fairly accessible prices.
