This is what a Cuban spent on a simple purchase on the island: "And we were missing the rice and the beans."

A Cuban on TikTok showed the high cost of a basic shopping trip in Cuba, where he spent 7,300 pesos on chicken, oil, tomato puree, sugar, and charcoal.

In a recent video shared on TikTok, a Cuban highlighted the high cost of a basic shopping trip on the island, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet food needs due to rising prices.

The user, identified as @jesusdecuba, detailed what he had to pay for some essential products. He explained that to acquire 10 pounds of chicken, he paid 3,100 pesos, while a bottle of oil cost him 900 pesos. In addition, he mentioned that a simple can of tomato puree cost him 550 pesos, sugar was 750 pesos, and charcoal was 2,000 pesos, which totaled 7,300 pesos.

Despite the amount spent, the Cuban emphasized that his purchase was incomplete, as he had not been able to acquire rice or beans, basic foods in the daily diet of Cubans.

"Tell me how much I spent on this little purchase. And that's without the rice and beans, it's impossible with so much," she wrote in the video description, showing her frustration with the high prices and the economic situation faced by the Cuban population.

This type of content has become increasingly common on social media platforms like TikTok, where citizens share their daily lives and the difficulties they face in obtaining basic products, highlighting a reality marked by inflation and scarcity in Cuba.

The video has generated numerous reactions among users, who expressed their solidarity and concern over the excessive increase in prices on the island amid a deep economic crisis.

"How hard," "How sad the situation in Cuba," "It hurts me a lot what is happening on the island," some internet users have reacted after watching the video.
