Cuban reggaeton artist Jorge Junior Hernández Carvajal, leader of the group Los 4, has issued a public statement on social media following the controversial incident that occurred last Wednesday at the Panama airport, where he and his son, 21-year-old Jaide Hernández, were detained by security agents.
Through his Instagram stories, the artist shared his version of events, claiming that the treatment he received was humiliating and that the situation was handled arbitrarily.
In his message, Jorge Junior acknowledged having "lost his temper" at one point, explaining that his reaction was a response to provocation.
"It is true that I lost my temper, it is true that I am guilty of reacting to an action," he wrote. According to him, the Cuban singer Tania Pantoja, who was also on the same flight, witnessed how he and his son were taken off the plane under the pretext of a supposed medical emergency, which, in his words, was an excuse to leave him stranded at the airport without transportation or accommodation options.
Jorge Junior reported that after being removed from the plane, he and his son faced legal proceedings in Panama, where, according to his statements, they were treated "like murderers."
He described the situation as particularly distressing for him and his son, who found themselves in a foreign country without any support. "We were taken off the plane 'supposedly for my health,' to save my life, and what they did was leave us alone in an airport that isn't in our country, without a flight or accommodation," he stated in his declaration.
The reggaeton artist also took the opportunity to criticize the attitude of some airport officials, pointing out their lack of professionalism and courtesy towards passengers.
He stated that he tried to remain calm and cordial before the situation escalated, but the behavior of the authorities prompted him to react impulsively.
In his closing remarks, Jorge Junior shared a reflection on the incident, expressing his belief that "up there, there is a God" who sees the intentions of those who tried to harm him.
The singer stated that, despite everything, he is thankful to have emerged from the situation free alongside his son, valuing the experience as a reminder of the importance of integrity and freedom.
"That same God made you see your worth and showed me mine; being a free person alongside my son is priceless. Enjoy the money," he concluded his message.
The situation has sparked a commotion on social media, where fans and other artists have expressed their support for Jorge Junior and his son, questioning the actions of airport officials in Panama and emphasizing the need for respectful treatment of international travelers.
