The talented Santiago pitcher Kevin Rosales, regarded as a young baseball prospect, arrived in the United States this weekend, joining the growing list of athletes who have managed to leave behind the Cuban regime in search of new opportunities.
Rosales shared a video on Instagram capturing the moment he boarded the plane and arrived in U.S. territory, where he was welcomed with traditional balloons and the country's flag.
On his social media, the young Rosales has not made any statements about how he arrived in the United States or his sports plans in that country.
In the 63rd National Series of Baseball in Cuba, the pitcher demonstrated solid performance that marked him as a promising talent on the mound.
The Facebook profile "Sports CHAGO" reported that the pitcher achieved three wins and three losses, along with two saves and 16 strikeouts.
Although his Earned Run Average (ERA) was 5.22, he is considered an athlete with potential, as he made significant contributions in every game he played alongside Las Avispas from Santiago de Cuba.
According to Béisbol Cubano, Rosales made his debut with the Santiago team in the 2023 National Baseball Series.
Another of the young baseball prospects from Cuba who recently managed to escape is Ariel Pestano Jr., the son of former Cuba national team catcher Ariel Pestano. He recently arrived in the United States after waiting several months in Mexico for his interview with CBP One.
In October, Raúl González Isidoria severed ties with the island's Baseball Federation after seeking political asylum at the border between Canada and the United States.
Similarly, the Cuban pitcher Yoisnel Camejo decided not to return to Cuba after participating in the Barcelona Baseball Cup, where he played as part of the Matanzas "Cocodrilos" team.
