The Provincial Transport Company of the capital announced the suspension of boat service in Havana Bay starting at 10:20 a.m. today.
According to the announcement made by the entity on its Facebook page, the measure was taken due to the adverse weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Rafael, which poses a direct risk to the western provinces.
The company apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged the public to opt for bus transportation.
Previously, last Thursday, the boat was also temporarily taken out of service due to "the strong winds present in the Bay of Havana." The service was restored the following day.
At the beginning of the month, that mode of transportation was also out of service for two days due to the weather effects associated with Hurricane Milton as it passed near the western part of the country.
In the past two years, the boat transportation service in Havana Bay has been marked by frequent interruptions, primarily due to technical failures, maintenance issues, pollution in the bay, and even the risk of collapse at the landing dock in the municipality of Regla.
These issues have affected passengers who regularly use this means of transport to travel between the towns of Regla, Casablanca, and Old Havana.
