Three handball players featured this Sunday in yet another chapter of the unstoppable exodus of Cuban athletes, after leaving the training base that part of the national team has in France.
According to journalist Francys Romero on Facebook, Daril Lois González (Havana, 22 years old), Diosel Rondón (Granma, 21), and Jorge Félix Pren (Matanzas, 23) decided to completely change the course of their athletic careers and lives in the midst of the significant shortages on the island.
The young people were in that nation as part of their training for the 2025 Handball World Championship scheduled in Croatia, from January 4 to February 2.
“Now these three young men will continue their careers outside of Cuba and will try to establish themselves at the professional level of handball after resolving their immigration status,” wrote Romero.
Just a few days ago, three players left the training camp shortly before an exhibition match against Mexico at the Tepic Stadium, also known as the "Coloso del Pacífico," as reported by Romero himself.
The players who escaped from the delegation were: Branlis Rodríguez (left-handed pitcher from Pinar del Río); Over Cremet (outfielder from Guantánamo); and Alexis Varona (infielder from Havana).
The escape occurred approximately two hours before the team traveled to the stadium by bus for the match, which took place last Wednesday.
