The Cuban basketball player Bexy Yelena Claro Viset arrived in the United States this week from Mexico.

"Every sacrifice has its reward because God's timing is perfect," wrote the 23-year-old from Holguín on her Facebook profile alongside several images after her arrival at the airport.

The athlete parted ways with the Cuban Basketball Federation in 2023 when she did not return to the island after finishing her contract with the Salvadoreñas B.C. team, which ended as the runner-up in the Apertura tournament of that Central American nation.

Claro Viset later moved to Mexico, and in the Aztec nation, he managed to join the Musas Jalisco club for the 2024 season, in which his team also became the runner-up.

"I am resilient and I can overcome life's challenges. My wellbeing is a priority and I am committed to taking care of it," she wrote in another post on her social media in recent days.

In Cuba, Claro Viset was part of the teams from Holguín and Santiago de Cuba and was a member of the national team for several years.

The basketball player, who plays as a center, was a key part of the national team during the 2022 Caribbean Championship, which took place in Havana.

She also participated in the XXIII Women's Centrobasket 2022, which took place in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.

She also excelled in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2023 in León, Mexico; at the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023 in El Salvador; and at the Pan American Games 2023 held in Chile.

"You managed alone, you managed without a peso, you managed tired, you managed scared. You always could and you will continue to, and you will be able. Don't let life defeat you; it has many beautiful things for you. And my surprise was reaching where I am now," concluded the young woman alongside the photos that announce her entry into a new life, this time in U.S. territory.

The massive exodus of Cubans in recent years continues to leave a significant mark on the sport of the island.
