A pothole in the roadway is believed to have triggered an accident involving a motorcycle and a vintage car, with no fatalities or injuries reported from the incident.

The events took place on Tuesday at the intersection of Porvenir and Font streets, in the Havana neighborhood of La Víbora, in the 10th of October municipality.

A report published in the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones' initially indicated that the accident occurred on the Porvenir road, near A street. However, a supposed witness to the incident stated that it took place at the intersection of Porvenir and Font.

In response to user speculation about the causes of the accident, the alleged witness stated that it did not occur at any traffic light. Several internet users speculated that the traffic light may not have been functioning due to the blackouts that have become a regular part of daily life in the capital.

"It was in the middle of the road, and apparently the car had some kind of issue because it veered onto the lane for no apparent reason," the witness explained.

Another user clarified that a third vehicle, a Lada, had been involved in the accident. Apparently, it hit a pothole, which caused suspension issues. To avoid colliding with the Lada, the almendrón swerved and crashed into the motorcycle.

"Porvenir and Font. [It happened] through a hole in front of Manzanillo. The Lada lost the ball and Chevi, avoiding the hole, went off the path and collided with the bike," the internet user pointed out.

"There's a dangerous hole there," said another user in the comments, confirming the presence of a pothole on the road, which poses a danger to traffic.

The poor condition of the roads in Cuba is a contributing factor to many of the traffic accidents that occur. potholes add to other issues affecting road safety, such as non-functioning traffic lights, lack of street lighting, a shortage of road signs, and more.

In mid-September, a Hyundai car, commonly used by the Cuban regime for tourist rentals, became stuck in a large pothole in the city of Ciego de Ávila, with no injuries reported among the vehicle's occupants.

At the end of April, a Toyota jeep overturned after falling into a pothole on the National Highway. The accident occurred before the Agua de Pasajeros checkpoint in the province of Cienfuegos, and only material damages were reported to the jeep, which suffered a steering failure.

Days earlier, a huge pothole located on the important and busy 25th Avenue in the Havana municipality of Marianao was the cause of a serious accident in which a Lada ended up overturned.
