Miami-Dade authorities are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about a truck driver who fatally struck a Cuban agricultural worker in the southwest part of the county last Monday and fled the scene.
The victim was identified as Alexis Muñoz, a 46-year-old man originally from Cuba and father of three children, who was riding a scooter when he was struck by a truck on the morning of November 11.
Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for anyone who provides information leading to the capture of the driver, Local 10 reported.
Individuals who wish to provide information about the driver can call 305-471-2425 and have the option to remain anonymous, the organization clarified.
The accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 194 and Street 208, near the facilities of Costa Farms Color Division, where Muñoz worked.
According to authorities, the driver of the 2022 Ford F-250 truck, which was heading south and towing an orange Kubota loader and a black trailer, did not stop after the accident.
Instead of offering help or reporting the incident, the driver left the scene of the accident and got into a red pickup truck, leaving the victim behind.
The Miami-Dade Police are asking for the residents' assistance in finding the individual responsible.
The Cuban community in Miami demands justice for Muñoz, whom his acquaintances described as a "great man, friend, and excellent father."
