A Cuban resident in the United States sent a message to the leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, warning about the potential consequences of a possible mass deportation of immigrants if Donald Trump fulfills the promises made during his presidential campaign.
"Díaz-Canel, they are saying that Trump is the bad guy and that he will deport us. If Trump doesn’t need our workforce and sends us back to Cuba, if he deports 50,000 Cubans... what are you going to do with us?" questioned the TikToker Yosvany del Río (@yosvanydelrio).
The video has gathered thousands of supportive comments and over 24,000 views. In his message, the Cuban questioned the government's ability to reintegrate into society those who may be deported.
"In which warehouse, in which union, in which jobs are you going to assign us?" Del Río asked, addressing the Cuban leader directly.
He also questioned how the regime could handle the social and political impact of welcoming individuals who have already experienced freedom outside of Cuba.
"What are you going to do if Trump deports us? Are you going to imprison us all? How are you going to deceive those who risked their lives for freedom?" he continued.
Thousands of deported Cubans could return to the country in less than a year. If such a scenario unfolds, the TikToker warns that it could spell the end for the communist regime, as Díaz-Canel's government lacks the resources to manage the desire for freedom among individuals who have already experienced it.
While Trump's promises create uncertainty, the regime remains silent. The impact of these deportations could pose a monumental challenge, leaving the question in the air: Is Díaz-Canel prepared to face this scenario?
