The 22-year-old Cuban, Jesús David Corcho Pérez, who had been reported missing since Sunday in Jovellanos, Matanzas, was found dead this Thursday, family sources confirmed.

Four days after the urgent alert issued by the family to locate him, a cousin of Corcho reported the tragic outcome: he was found dead, and she stated that he was murdered, though she did not provide further details.

“They found my cousin lifeless, so young damn it. Justice for goodness' sake, you were just a child,” was the chilling message posted on Facebook by the young woman identified as Dêborâ D Dârkar.

“They killed him, damn it, he was just a child, justice, damn it... no one deserves to have their life taken away, especially not a child...” she exclaimed despairingly in a comment on her own post.

Some people said that the young man might have been murdered to steal the motorcycle he was riding, information that has not been confirmed.

It is known that Corcho left his home on Sunday around 4:00 PM on his purple scooter, according to reports from family and friends on social media.

From that moment on, his loved ones had no further news of him. As the hours passed without any sign of the young man, their desperation grew, and they intensified their search in the hope of finding him safe and sound.

The family, distressed, reported the case to the police and also turned to social media to raise awareness about the young man's disappearance and seek help in locating him.

Also concerned about Corcho's whereabouts, friends, acquaintances, and residents of the municipality of Jovellanos immediately mobilized to search for him and spread the alert across dozens of profiles and groups on Facebook.

People who knew him stated that he was a very beloved young man in the community. His teacher, Alicia María López Hernández, described him as "an exceptional human being and my most special student" and urged anyone who may have seen him to help locate him.

Mara Álvarez, a friend of Corcho's mother, Maleybis Pérez Camacho, a local dentist, shared a post on her profile in which the woman desperately sought help to find her son.

At the time of publishing this notice, the circumstances surrounding Corcho's death and other details of the case remain unknown, keeping the residents of Jovellanos on edge.

In the past year, there has been a reported increase in disappearances of individuals in Cuba, often linked to the rise in crime and the decline in public safety.

There have been numerous cases of missing persons who have been murdered for the sake of robbing them of material possessions, particularly scooters. These crimes have become increasingly common recently, set against a backdrop of widespread economic and social crisis.
