The early hours of this Friday were marked by cold temperatures in the interior regions of Cuba, particularly in the provinces of Mayabeque, Matanzas, and Cienfuegos. The trend is expected to continue, with temperatures likely to drop further as the weekend approaches.
According to a report on Facebook by meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez, temperatures as low as 15°C were recorded during the early morning of November 22.
The lowest temperature was 12.4°C in Aguada de Pasajeros, Cienfuegos province.
In Artemisa, the municipality of Güira de Melena reported a temperature of 17.3°C.
The forecast from the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) for this Friday indicates that the day will be cool, with rain mainly in the central and eastern regions.
Afternoon highs will range from 24 to 27°C in the western and central regions, and from 28 to 31°C in the rest of the country, with higher temperatures in some southern eastern areas.
At night, temperatures will drop to between 18 and 21°C, with lower values in the interior areas of the western and central regions, and higher values in coastal areas.
Regarding the rain, the forecast predicts a mostly cloudy morning in the central and eastern regions, with some showers and rainfall in areas along the northern coast.
During the afternoon, these rainfalls will spread to the interior and southern areas. In the rest of the country, the sky will be partly cloudy with light showers.
Winds will blow from the northwest to the north in the west and center, with speeds of 15 to 30 km/h. In the east, winds will be light and variable, shifting to the northwest in the afternoon along the northern coast.
Maritime conditions indicate swells along the northern coast of the westernmost region, with waves from Artemisa to Villa Clara and along the southern coast of the west and center. There will be little wave activity along the rest of the northern coast, and calm seas are expected on the southern coast of the east.
In summary, we are experiencing an early onset of winter in Cuba, and it’s a call to start pulling out our warm coats.
