A cold front has arrived in South Florida, bringing a drop in minimum temperatures for this Friday, which will range between 50 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit (10 and 12 degrees Celsius) in Miami-Dade and Broward.
On Thursday, a mass of colder and drier air began to move into the lower part of the State, with winds coming from the north. After the coolness of the night, temperatures this morning registered 50 °F (10 °C), a figure not seen since February.
The Keys will not be as cold and will show slightly higher temperatures, ranging from 60 to 65°F (15 to 18°C), which are still below average.
During the day, there will be plenty of sunshine, with winds ranging from 5 to 15 mph.
According to the CBS News Miami weather team, the afternoon will be more pleasant. However, temperatures will reach the mid-70s °F (21 °C), nearly 10 degrees below average.
The weekend will remain cool, with no rain and wind gusts of up to 20 mph, which could enhance the wind chill effect.
On Saturday, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 56 °F (13 °C) and a high of 73 °F (22 °C).
Starting Sunday, temperatures will gradually warm up, reaching the 80s °F (26 °C) in the first half of next week.
This is the third cold front to arrive in Florida in less than a month, preceded by cold air from Canada.
Meteorologists emphasize that this cold front could signal the "unofficial end" of the hurricane season.
