“My job isn’t my dream job, but it is helping me achieve my dreams,” states a young Mexican woman about her experience working long hours in an Italian restaurant in the United States, alongside her partner.
With honesty and without embellishments, Gisell_LG describes how both are living the so-called "American Dream" while facing challenges that require effort and sacrifice.
In her video, @gisell_lg reflects on the journey they are undergoing to achieve their goals, although she acknowledges that their current job is not the one they always envisioned. "What I want to share with you is that every process has its outcome, and perhaps in that process we have to do things we don't enjoy as much, but the important thing is that it is temporary and brings us closer to our own goals and dreams," she states at one point.
The creator emphasizes that, although she and her partner have university degrees, their qualifications have not been necessary for the work they currently do in the U.S. “To come here to work, you don’t need many requirements; as long as you wake up early, work hard, and put in long hours, you’re good,” she states. Additionally, she points out that on social media, we often only see the results, such as houses or trips, but not always the sacrifices made behind the scenes.
