Amarily Molina, sister of the young motorist who died in a traffic accident this week in La Virgen del Camino, Havana, shared details to clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragic event and to debunk speculations circulating about the case.
Molina affirmed that his brother, whom he identified as Rolando Leonel Molina Álvarez, was not under the influence of alcohol and always drove cautiously.
According to their account,Rolando was hit from behind by a ZIL 130 (B8) truck, causing him to lose his balance and end up in the opposite lane, where he was struck by a yellow vehicle.
"The truck that hit him fled the scene, and nothing more was heard about it," declared Amarily, who claims to have traveled through La Virgen del Camino looking for witnesses who can provide information about the incident.
Amid this tragedy, the family has also reported the theft of Rolando's belongings following the accident, including his watch, phone, and documents.
The death of Rolando Leonel Molina has left a three-year-old girl orphaned and a family shattered by his loss.
His sister has described the young man who passed away not just as a brother, but as a son whom she raised herself.
“It is my pain, it is my life that went there... A very sad story, leaving your family and loved ones devastated,” wrote Leandro Peña in a message he posted on social media on behalf of the family.
Rolando's wife and parents are equally desperate, seeking answers and justice for what happened.
The family is appealing to anyone who has information about the accident or the truck driver who fled the scene.
