Yakelín's Christmas during the Pandemic: "Cubans will eat anything"

The Flacomímico addressed some of the issues in Cuba, such as the lack of fuel for cooking and food shortages. "I use my refrigerator as a shoe rack."

The Cuban comedic character Yaquelín la Pandemia, portrayed by the Matanzas actor Ernesto González Umpierre, shared a new video in which she talks about how she is "celebrating" Christmas in Cuba.

"I went out dressed in this Christmas outfit, and some guy behind me was just staring at me. Cubans will eye anything," said Yaquelín.

In the entertaining sketch, he touched on some of the issues facing Cuba, such as the lack of fuel for cooking, mentioning that he needed a woodcutter (many families have to cook with firewood) and the shortage of food.

"I don't care about the refrigerator, I use it as a shoe rack," she stated.

Ernesto González Umpierre, popularly known as El Flacomímico, often shares humorous videos that highlight the issues happening in Cuba.

In November of last year, he published one in which he expressed his concern about the mass exodus from the Island, while also subtly addressing the issue of scarcity by saying that when the sun sets in Havana, he feels "a burning sensation in his stomach" from so much hunger.

The Flacomímico popularized his character Yakelín la Pandemia years ago with the video "Muertecita de miedo," where he narrated how he managed to escape from a sexual harasser in Havana.

The material went viral on social media, with over 5,000 views on YouTube.
