A teenager and her mother who were attacked with a machete by the girl's father and the woman's ex-partner are recovering from their injuries.
The event occurred on January 16 in the municipality of Guisa, Granma, specifically in the neighborhood of Los Pajales, near the place known as La Ovejera.
According to a post by user Manuel Viera on his Facebook wall, both have evolved successfully.
"Surely the physical wounds will heal quickly, but the path to heal the psychological wound will be long, especially for the girl," he noted.
The attacker, identified only as Israel, took his own life after committing the crime.
He had been reported by the minor (initially it was said that she was his stepdaughter) for sexual abuse and was in prison.
"When he was released, he attacked his mother and daughter with a machete and then committed suicide by hanging. There are reports suggesting that the stepdaughter's accusation was unjust, while other accounts describe a man who abused his wife," Viera detailed days ago when announcing the incident.
Mother and daughter had to be admitted to the Bayamo hospital.
The incident caused dismay in the community.
"My son was at the clinic when they arrived with them. He says that the most injured was the girl, who is 15 years old. A woman arrived with them and that woman mentioned that the girl's arms were in nearly unsalvageable condition, she said," recounted Judith Miniet, a neighbor of the area.
"The first ambulance took the girl, who was in very bad shape. The mother was transported in a second ambulance. She had injuries to her head and abdomen. They had lost a lot of blood and both were in serious condition, although the girl more so," he added.
