The administration of President Donald Trump sent a clear message to undocumented immigrants following the recent resumption of mass deportation flights in the United States.
Through its official account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the White House warned that those who enter the country illegally will face "serious consequences."
"As promised, President Trump is sending a strong message to the world: those who illegally enter the United States will face serious consequences," noted the statement published on social media.
The measure is part of a tightening of immigration policy, which includes an expansion of expedited deportations across the United States and a significant reinforcement of the border with Mexico.
In recent days, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported a dramatic decrease in immigrant detentions at the border, which experts suggest may be linked to an increase in raids and a heightened perception of a greater risk of deportation.
Since the restart of the operations, raids have been carried out in several cities across the country, resulting in the detention of at least 460 immigrants in the first few hours. According to official sources, these arrests have been made based on the new guidelines from the administration, which prioritize the detention of individuals with criminal records and those who have recently entered irregularly.
In parallel, the government of the United States has deployed a fleet of military aircraft to expedite deportations and has mobilized 1,500 additional soldiers to the southern border to strengthen surveillance.
According to official data, deportation flights have already begun sending hundreds of immigrants back to their countries of origin, in collaboration with governments such as Mexico, which has also started the repatriation of affected migrants.
U.S. authorities have also specifically warned migrants against attempting to reach the country's shores by sea. "Rafts will be returned to their country of origin immediately", they emphasized, reiterating that there will be no exceptions in the enforcement of immigration law.
At the same time, recent polls show a majority support for these stricter immigration policies, with a significant portion of the American population backing the government's actions to control the flow of undocumented immigrants.
Human rights organizations have expressed their concern over the humanitarian consequences of these measures, urging the administration to ensure due process for migrants and to evaluate each case individually before proceeding with deportation.
