A Cuban doctor who works in Brazil's public health system has been accused of sexually abusing a 69-year-old patient during a consultation.

The events occurred on September 30th of last year. The doctor is part of the Mais Médicos Program, which is implemented by the government of Lula da Silva in partnership with Cuba.

According to the victim's account, upon entering the consultation, she complained about her health and mentioned that she was a widow. The doctor, for his part, looked at her "differently" and started to stroke her hands while saying that he would like to have a relationship with a Brazilian woman.

The Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) is in charge of the investigation of the case, which occurred in the administrative region of Samambaia. The identity of the doctor has not been disclosed.

The Secretary of Health informed Metrópoles that upon receiving the complaint, it took immediate measures to ensure the patient's safety.

"The user was quickly received, and the professional was immediately removed from the unit. The Secretariat also formally filed a request for a precautionary suspension of the professional with the Technical Referent of the Ministry of Health. The Health Department is fully cooperating with the competent authorities to adequately investigate the facts," the note specifies.
