The shutdown of the Felton occurs on a day when the Electric Union forecasts a day of extended blackouts, with a deficit exceeding 1,400 MW.

According to the report from the entity, in addition to the Holguin plant, other blocks at the Santa Cruz, Cienfuegos, and Renté plants are under maintenance, not to mention the breakdowns in units at the Santa Cruz, Renté, and Felton facilities themselves.
