Skulls found on the street next to the cemetery in Las Tunas

In the video, destroyed niches and scattered bones can be seen on the public street, which has sparked a wave of outrage among the population.

The abandonment and crisis in Cuban cemeteries are once again making headlines following the release of shocking images from the Cementerio Vicente García, de Las Tunas.

"As if it were a horror movie, on the road adjacent to the Vicente García cemetery in Las Tunas, you can find anything from skulls to other parts of human remains of those laid to rest in the niches of the graveyard. This has been happening for some time now. There is no longer any respect," a local resident told Yosmany Mayeta.

Residents in the area claim that both the authorities and the cemetery management are aware of the situation.

"Children and adults pass by here every day. It feels like we're in a horror movie, where you can see human remains in the middle of the truck. It's not easy to see these walls with the broken niches. It's a lack of respect, one after another. Even after death, one still has to suffer," lamented the source.

In the video, you can see destroyed niches and bone remains scattered on the public road.

In the comments section of the post, many expressed their dismay at the disrespect shown to the deceased and the lack of dignified conditions even after death.

"Not even in death can one find rest in this country", commented a user, reflecting the widespread feeling of helplessness.

Others lamented the precariousness of the funeral system on the island, stating that "there is no dignified death, no dignified wake, and even less a dignified burial. There is simply nothing."

For many, these images reflect the social and structural deterioration across all spheres of life in Cuba.

"This has already become normalized, the deterioration is total and can be seen everywhere: hospitals, schools, banks... the entire country is in ruins," denounced another person, pointing out that the crisis is not limited to cemeteries.

Some speculate that the desecration of the niches could be related to acts of vandalism or religious practices.

"The paleros are looking for canillas for their ngangas," commented an internet user, while others believe it is simply a matter of the system's apathy and negligence.

"This has been happening for many years and no one cares," stated another commentator.

This fact not only highlights the lack of maintenance in the cemeteries across the country but also the indifference of the authorities towards the deterioration of the spaces designated for eternal rest.

The deterioration of cemeteries in Cuba is not an isolated issue.

Similar situations have been reported in other parts of the country, such as the Santa Efigenia Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, where similar incidents were reported years ago, necessitating the construction of a protective wall.
